Your trusted partner in Maritime Services
At Lani Maritime, we offer support to Ship & Facility Owners, Contractors and Engineers. With over 30 years on or underwater, we have the experience and insight to assist with your project.
COMMERCIAL SERVICES
TEMPORARY DOCKS
Lani can demonstrate with case history how temporary docks have been used effectively in river, lake and ocean applications. Let us show you how monohull or sectional barges can provide temporary moorage for other barges or ships. We can help move your cargo, even when there's no existing infrastructure.
SPACER BARGES & FENDERS
In areas where a dock structure exists, but the vessel must be positioned in deeper water, sectional units can be designed and installed to act as a mooring dolphin. Our in-house bathymetric survey capabilities allow us to obtain the necessary data to evaluate options for the use of spacers or fenders to minimize your dead-freight.
PROJECT PLANNING & MANAGMENT
When the cargo is too big for road or rail, there's always Hwy H20. If you're planning a sea lift or missing dock infrastructure at one end of the transit, we can help bridge that too.
MARINE FACILITY INSPECTIONS & SERVICES
Almost 40 million tons of cargo transit the Seaway each year. The Port Infrastructure that handle these volumes are critical to the industry, and their supply chains. We assist Port and Facility Operators with their maintenance, upgrades and inspection challenges
BATHYMETRIC SURVEYS
We use engineering-grade hardware from Cee HydroSystems to collect bathymetric data which is processed with Hydromagic software. The difference in our deliverables is how we interpret the data to focus on your specific issue. Our reports provide drawings, images and a link to a .csv file of corrected soundings, but we’ll also offer guidance for corrective actions. If you're trying to manage dead freight at your dock, or build a boathouse on a rock shelf in Cottage Country, we can help.

DREDGING PROJECTS
SALVAGE & WRECK REMOVAL
Our Principal's experience in salvage operations began in 1990 as a Commercial Diver. Responding to an array of marine casualties, he advanced to Salvage Master and compiled a comprehensive list of assets recovered and returned to Owners, or safely removed to preserve the marine environment. We've been engaged from Coast to Coast assisting Contractors and Federal Agencies with Wrecked and Abandoned Vessels.
SHORELINE PROTECTION
The effects of high water can be challenging for Property Owners on the Great Lakes. The need for Residential Shoreline break-walls and revetments will be an ongoing task. Lani can support your breakwater requirements from initial survey, engineering & permitting and on to installation or rehabilitation.
INDUSTRIAL
WORKBOAT SERVICES
Our growing fleet of small craft is available to support your projects from crew & safety vessels to remote access and inspection.
MURPHY G
Murphy G is one of our original workhorses. With a refit underway, she'll soon be back out with twin 115 HP outboards and an enclosed house for Operator comfort. At 21 ft the vessel can be trailered to site.
DOT DROPPER
She's only 13 feet, but with a 4-stroke 35 hp on the back, Dot Dropper is the perfect small craft for shallow water survey.
WHAT'S WITH THE NAME?
Paul Kirby was an avid Recreational Sailor. He enjoyed runs across the Lake and took a keen interest in the Ships he saw along the way. My earliest memory of a “Laker” was from Sunday drives to Toronto Harbour to see who was in Port or laid-up for the Winter.
My interest in boats can certainly be traced back to those early years. I became a Commercial Diver and grew in an Industry that has defined my life.
My Father passed away in 2015. In his memory, I named the Company “Lani”.... the namesake of the boat he decided he should sell in the fall of 1969 when he learned he was starting a family, and I was on the way.
